Laur @ 10:04 AM

listening to "Turn the Page" by Bob Seger

She steps slowly and cautiously onto the stage, her long skirt just barely brushing over the wooden floor. All attention is focused onto her. The spotlight shines right down the middle of the stage, directly onto her. She takes the microphone in her hand and holds it up to her mouth. All eyes are on her; expectant ears and anticipating minds.

"Standing there
You hide your eyes
Turn around
You're in disguise
Tell me how you make no one know

Looking past
What's happened and what's going on
You never asked
If you were right or I was wrong
Broken glass
Is all that's left from what you've said

So now you're...

Standing there
You hide your eyes
Turn around
You're in disguise
Tell me how you make no one know

Asking why
Was the only way to know with you
You wouldn't cry
Or think to see yourself as being black or blue
Truest lie
Is all you would let yourself believe

So now you're...

Standing there
You hide your eyes
Turn around
You're in disguise
Tell me how you make no one know

It's almost as if there's nothing there
Behind your eyes
Can't you bring yourself to feel
This splintered pain

Now you're...

Standing there
You hide your eyes
Turn around
You're in disguise
Tell me how you make no one know

Just tell me how you make no one know
This splintered pain"

She stands, waiting for response. Utter silence. And then... deafening applause.

Laur @ 10:18 PM

listening to "Don't Let Me Down" by the Beatles

I've seen the nobody standing in the corner everyday. She stands and stares at all that goes on around her. Everyday we all pass her by. She's always there; it never fails. I feel as if I know her, as if she's one of my closest friends. Doesn't that make her somebody?

Laur @ 10:13 PM

listening to "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zepplin

She's standing over there
Wrapped up in herself
You wonder what she's thinking

You're looking over there
Outside yourself
You make her wonder

Look at each other
See the truth inside
Hold hands and wonder

It's been there all along
Love's been there all along
Does it make you wonder?

Laur @ 7:51 PM

listening to "Origin of Love" by Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Look through the kaliedascope
See the running colors and shapes
Sparkling glittery shimmers of blue
Can't you see the happy yellow?
The radiant gold?
The pleasantly mysterious silver?
Are you trapped inside a world of sighing blue?

Laur @ 9:29 AM

listening to the silence of Kate's house at 9

Paint a lovely picture
Of the morning rain
Swish the blue and splatter the gray
Sunlight absence
Rain all around
The abyss of gloomy
Why aren't you here?

listening to "Deliver Me" by Sarah Brightman

Sometimes, ironic things happen for the best.

Laur @ 5:32 PM

listening to "Photograph" by Weezer

Your protective arms hold me tightly; not so tight that I can't breathe, but tight enough so that I know you never want to let go. The sunset is in front of us, the bright colors slowly fading before our eyes. The traffic below us, so tiny from where we are. We are on top of the world, physically and mentally. The night approaches, but must we go?

Laur @ 8:33 PM

listening to "Wig in a Box" by Hedwig and the Angry Inch

It's getting slightly colder now, and I don't know where to go. Your arms are so inviting... but they're outstretched to someone else. Why can't I unglue myself from where I stand, locked into a stare; watching you love someone else? Can't you see you were supposed to choose me? A smile at her, a laugh at me; you know you didn't have to pretend. It hurts so much now that I know that I've been used... was I only a washcloth being wrung out to dry? It's slightly colder now, and I don't know where to go. Even if someone was offering, how can I be sure they're not a carbon copy of you?
