listening to "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone" by Paula Cole

downtown

i remember being there;
flashbacks;
like jagged edges of
shards of glass---
the heat
the rush
the ignition of
your lingering touch---
the words
the breeze
the smile that
knocked me to my knees---
a day when
i never cried
more---
long
drawn-out sobs
no
drenching tears
only
choking
choking
choking---
left sitting
the newspaper
and me---
grasping
at the empty air
where
you were standing
moments
seconds
right then
before---
i'm never going
back.

p.s.: formatting not showing up, damn.

like burning incense

someone
clever
like a poet
would think to
bottle
your scent
in order to get high later on;
like burning
incense or
sniffing permanent
markers
when it's
late at
night.

Desperate Saturdays

his scent;
so erotic,
remembered from taking
short
raspy
hard
gaspy
breaths
on desperate Saturdays,
never avoiding
the rush
or
taking it
slow.

p.s.: there's some crazy major formatting that goes with this poem and it won't show up! bastards.

Laur @ 8:24 PM

listening to Led Zeppelin

i first saw you in the morning and
trust me,
the sight of you woke me up.
that smile of yours;
is it your goal to brighten everybody's day?
i first met you through your words and
believe you me,
i wish i could write like you.
that poetry you make;
how do you make it mean so much?

a.n: never mind

I want to make everyone fill out a survey about me. It would ask them only two questions.

1)Who is Lauren, to you?
2)How does Lauren fit into your life?

I want to know the answers, I want to know the honest answers to these questions and finally know what people think of me. Am I really that great at writing? Can I really play softball? I want them to say it naturally if it's true, without me having to initiate it with saying that I suck at it. Do I really make their days? Are the laughs I earn from them actually genuine? It's anybody's guess. I wish there was a way to know for sure.
