Laur @ 11:53 PM

listening to Damien Rice in my head

Days pass
like cars on the highway-both
fast and slow,
depending
on the flow of traffic.

Time heals nothing,
not
by itself;
I am left
turning and twisting
my rearview mirror
to evade
glimpses of you.

You block
my view
of oncoming traffic
[one of these days
you'll cause me to be
in a wreck].

Laur @ 11:31 AM

listening to HIM

Her poetry has a structure
that her life never will.

To count syllables, she says,
is to have control.

(The couplet
at the end of a sonnet
is what clarifies, but where
are the rhyming footnotes
of life?)

Laur @ 11:26 AM

listening to So Damn Lucky by Dave Matthews

You're just another thought,
caught up in the currents of my mind
as you make your way
down into the depths of
my distant memory.
