 Laur @ 5:11 PM
listening to Crazy Love by Jars of Clay

 I remember those nights,
those nights when I would wish on every star-
including the ones I couldn't see.

 I thought of you the other night;
I lay lonely and quiet in bed, a pillow over my head-
I'm glad you didn't see me.

 Laur @ 10:36 PM
listening to The Distance by Cake

 I’m looking at you,
 watching you staring at her.
 And I am dying.

 Laur @ 9:39 PM
listening to The Calendar Hung Itself by Bright Eyes

 her hair is long like
 too much ribbon
 but
you can never get too much
 of
 her.
 and it’s brown
 like the
 chocolate you were once
 addicted to
 but
 now
 you’re addicted
 to
 her.

 Laur @ 11:13 PM
 listening to silence

 It could be much worse.
I cry in the dark of night,
 so you do not see.

 Laur @ 6:24 PM
listening to Message From Kathleen by Alkaline Trio

Tonight I'm throwing you down on the ground, and
tonight I'm going to walk all over you.
 You will be defenseless
in the exact same way that I was,
 as I replace your words
 with my feet and
 I
 let
 you
 have
 it.

 Laur @ 6:14 PM
listening to White Flag by Dido

 She's worth it
 on the rainy days, for

who can surpass a dancer in the rain?

 Laur @ 11:07 PM
listening to I'll Do Anything by Jason Mraz

 She's...
 can't find the adjective.

saying the right things i can almost
smell her through this computer screen
 you see
she doesn't know it but when i hug her
 yes
i smell her hair and you know what
 it smells damn good

 I'm...
 can't think of the word.

unsure of what to say to her it's funny how she humours me
 with her time and
 patience with my silences i'm
too slow for such a deep thinker like her in fact
if only i could say something besides
 asking her about
 her day
 she really might sort-of
 you know
 like me.

 We're...
 slowly progressing
 with the usage
of a dictionary (or could it be
 a thesauraus?)

 Laur @ 10:52 PM
 listening to the fan

 I'm seeing myself
 from this oblique angle.
 I'm on the outside
 and looking in.

It's kind of odd to watch her sleeping.
The way her legs curl up to her chest,
 and how her arms are clutching that noseless stuffed bear;
 I sense an insecurity.

 This insecurity I see,
 it is out of place,
 it does not belong.

For I've watched her through the days,
 and I've noticed
 a common misconception.

 Could it be
 that the tightest hugs
 are from those who
 never
 ever
 want to let go?

 I'm seeing myself
 from this oblique angle.
 I'm on the outside
 and looking in.

 Laur @ 10:22 PM
listening to There You'll Be by Faith Hall

 It’s two in the morning.
I refuse to explain why I am still awake.
 This pen isn’t writing…
 I’m tired of fighting…
 I guess there’s no use denying…

 Alright, I was crying.

 Laur @ 10:21 PM
listening to A Taste of Honey by The Beatles

 define "playful."
 wait a second. that's
 not
 me.
 i'm sorry, but i'm
 serious.
 seriously serious
 about being serious about
 you...

 ...you hug the thought away.

 Laur @ 2:38 PM
 listening to Afterglow by Garbage

This poem is not about you.
You, the highlighter on my jeans.
No one knows what it means.
 But I understand you now.

 I don't deserve this.

This poem is not about you.
You, the chocolate on my shirt.
They know you treat me like dirt.
 But I understand you now.

 I don't deserve this.

This poem is not about you.
You, the ink on my arm.
Didn't mean to cause me harm.
 But I understand you now.

 I don't deserve this.

This poem is not about you.
You, the blue fuzz in my hair.
What would it take for you to care?
 But I understand you now.

 I don't deserve this.

This poem is not about you.
You, the one on my mind.
 Neglect is so unkind.
 But I understand you now.

 And I understand you now.
But I still don't deserve this.
